History and Breed Standard

The first Biewer Yorkshire A'la Pom Pon was born in January 1984 in Germany. His name was "Schneeflocken von Friedheck. This happened because of a recessive piebald gene that happened to occur in a litter of puppies born to Mr and Mrs Biewer. The parents were both champion black and tan yorkshire terriers. Mr Biewer continued breeding the Biewer Yorkshire A'la Pom Pon and in 1989 it was recognised as a breed with the ACH German E.V.

The breed standard is that of a Yorkshire Terrier except for the colouring. The head must be three colours black/blue, white and gold. The belly, chest, legs and the tip of the tail must be white. The tail is full with black/blue and white in it. The hair is long and silky.

Below is a copy of the original Biewer standard written and signed by Herr Biewer.
