Q I'm interested in getting a yorkie is it better to get a male or female?

A There is no correct answer here I find that sometimes the males are more loving than the females. It really is a personal

   choice.

Q I'm scared of getting a boy because they lift their legs against everything is there a way to stop them doing this?

A Yes, there is have them sterislised at 6 months old before they learn to lift their legs. If you are purchasing a male for

breeding purposes then it is something you will have to consider because little boys will mark their territory if there are

females around. There are products one can purchase to deter the boys but I wouldn't say they are 100% successful.

Q I want a tiny tiny yorkie where can I get one?

A Firstly, ask yourself if you are prepared for a tiny tiny yorkie!! Many people make claims to have tiny yorkies I have yet to

succesfully purchase one. They always end up larger than promised and if very small some come with health issues such as

hydrocephalus (water on the brain) and end up dying within a few weeks. Be very careful when purchasing a tiny yorkie

make sure that the puppies fontanel has knitted together an open fontanel is a good indication of possible hydrocephalus.

Q What is a teacup yorkie?

A A meal ticket for some. A teacup is a very controversial yorkie most breeders say they don't exist. They do exist I have

one a little boy that was breed from one of my mothers who has produced my largest puppy ever and now my tiniest puppy

ever. His mother fed him for 4.5 months and so he is a healthy little boy. I cannot imagine selling a tiny puppy to someone

at 6-8 weeks of age. I guess money is motivation to some and so they sell their puppies ASAP.  They are not

a different breed but sometimes in a litter one just pops up. Unfortunately there are breeders who will go out of their way

to try and re-produce them and that's when you end up with a sick puppy! Just because they exist and sometimes happen

in a litter shouldn't be motivation to try mass produce them.

Q Are yorkies good watch dogs?

A I reckon among the best they will alert you to intruders etc. long before you are aware that there is a problem. They have

the heart of a lion and do not think twice before reacting which sometimes can be the death of them.

Q Are yorkies suitable pets for children?

A Yes and no! The tiny yorkies are not suitable for little children who could possibly drop them. On the other hand a child that

is gentle and careful will make an excellent playmate for a yorkie. My yorkies love my daughter and our small chocolate

yorkie cries when my daughter goes outside without her. Yorkies are very sociable and loving dogs and hate to be left on

   their own.
