YORKIE ACCESSORIES AVAILABLE IN OUR ONLINE SHOP
20 April 2008
Hello
Today is the birthday of Roxanne's puppies, it's hard to believe a year has gone by already. I'm anxiously waiting for Abbygael to give birth to her first litter the due date is 23 April. I can't wait to see what the little babies will look like and what sexes they will be. I'm sleeping with one ear open at night just in case she goes into labour. Hopefully she'll choose a decent hour to deliver the pups. I'm sure she is going to be a very good mother as she is presently Trinkets surrogate mom. Abby lies with him at night and keeps him warm. I guess Prada will have to take over this role once Abby's pups are born. The only problem is even though Prada is a wonderful surrogate she and Trinket are a whirlwind combination. When they get together all hell breaks loose and they tear around the house after one another. Somedays I have to stop them for fear of one of them hurting themselves. They just love to play but at 12 at night it's not so entertaining.

Hello
On Tuesday 22 April Abby unfortunately had to have a C-section to deliver 1 little girl. Abby was in labour but had not dilated and the safest was to do a C-section. Her labour started at 7 am and when I saw nothing happening took her to the vet immediatley. I cannot understand that some people leave these matters for hours and then end up having dead puppies born. The little girl was delivered safely but if I had waited I would have lost her. The little girl weighed 100g and has the tiniest little face. Her arrival was on Mom's birthday and what a cute birthday present. Both Mom and baby are doing fine and settling in nicely.

Hello
Abbygael and baby are doing great. I have decided to call the little girl Mona-Lisa and the name says it all I have never heard such a vocal little puppy. I've been looking into importing the Biewer Yorkshire Terriers and have found some great websites. I've been fortunate to find someone in Holland who is willing to sell me 2 puppies towards the end of the year. I'm trying to arrange that they will come in as pets with someone. I really don't want them to have to go to quarantine. If anyone has more info or pictures of Biewer Yorkies please e-mail me with the details. It would also be nice to hear from other breeders of Biewer Yorkies.
MONA-LISA

Hello
Little Mona-Lisa has gone to live with her new owners. We miss her and her little kisses but she has gone to a great home and will be well looked after. She was a treat to have around and thrived on kisses and attention.
Found out to my relief that dogs and cats don't need to go into quarantine if imported. A few island countries are excluded from this so make sure when you import that the country of origin is excluded from this list. I would not import a puppy or kitten if it had to go into quarantine. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing the poor things were caged and alone.
I'm sure by now most yorkie fans will know that tail docking is now banned in South Africa as of 1 June 2008!!!

Hello
Seems like ages since I posted news but it is difficult to gain internet access when cable thieves have stolen the lines. Needless to say we had to go the route of wireless internet so hopefully I will never have the problem of being offline again!!!
On the 14th of August Prada and Mylo became parents to a healthy baby boy named Rogan James. I was gearing myself up for a C-section but believe it or not that little girl pushed out a 120g baby. He was breech so I had to assist her but she didn't utter a sound and was as proud as punch at his arrival. He will definitely be staying at Royalrue. He is 2 weeks today and as round as a ball what with no competition he can have all the milk to himself.
I can't wait for him to be mobile and running around. There's nothing cuter than a little Yorkie puppy playing up a storm. I will post photos shortly of Rogan James so keep checking back.

Hello
Well as promised a photo of Rogan James. Time has just flown by and Rogan is already 5 weeks old. He is at that cute stage and just loves to play and have lots of attention. Summer is upon us and that means fleas and ticks! Please remember to keep your Yorkies free of fleas and ticks, ask your vet for a safe and effective dip. It would be a tragedy if your Yorkie contracted tick bite fever unnecessarily. Remember prevention is better than cure.

Hello
Well I've had a few new additions to the yorkie family. Firstly, Shelby has come to live with us and then Roxanne gave birth to 4 puppies, 2 boys and 2 girls but unfortunately she lay on the one little boy and he died. The puppies are 5 weeks old now and just to cute for words. The daddy is Mylo so the babies are small yorkies like their daddy. They might be available to approved homes only.

Hello
Time has just flown by at Royalrue and puppies have been sold and new ones have been born. My chocolate yorkie Amber is growing into a lovely little girl. Abby had 2 stunning little girls in January and of course one of them Lil' Mia has ended up staying with us. I just could not part with her she is adorable. Prada and Mylo became parents again to 2 little boys one is considerably smaller than the other one. They will be available in 5 weeks time to go to their forever homes. It will be quiet again for awhile with no planned litters coming up.
Winter is on the way so please remember to check out the online shop for some nice new blankets for your yorkie. The winter range of clothing will be added soon.

During the last 2 months I have been fortunate to acquire 2 tiny teacup boys from wonderful small home breeders like myself. The 2 boys were so well socialised and loved they have such wonderful characters. To my surprise I have also managed to breed my own teacup boy from Prada and Mylo. He is the stockiest little thing and looks like a little teddy bear. At birth he looked a normal pocket size but from 4 weeks of age he just seemed to stop growing and has remained tiny. I'm so glad he was a healthy robust little boy when he was little. He continued to drink on his mommy till he was 4 months old so he is extremely healthy.
He is full of character just like his mommy and loves to cuddle every morning in my bed. He and his 2 friends are growing up together and enjoying every moment of it. I never planned to breed a teacup it just happened by chance I guess or maybe it was a blessing in return for the ugly incident I've just had with another breeder. So at this stage I'm feeling truly blessed with 3 little teacup boys.

Hello
Great news Roxanne had a litter of 3 healthy puppies 1 black and tan female and 2 chocolate boys. I will be posting photos of the 3 soon. The puppies will be available to approved homes only in a few weeks time. Summer is almost upon us so that means get out the tick and flea products and keep your yorkie free from these pests. It is preferable to ask your vet for a reliable tick and flea product as the ones available in super markets are not adequate. I've added a few new yorkie designs to my embroidered blanket line check out my online shop. Regardless of winter or summer your yorkie needs a nice clean, soft blanket to sleep on.
I've purchased a fancy new photo programme and when I get my head around it I will post some new photos of my lovely yorkies and of the 3 puppies for sale. I want to take the time to explain something about hypoglycemia or low blood sugar as this is a life threatening problem. Most people are told and rightly so that lack of food causes this condition and yes it does but did you know keeping your small puppy too warm can also cause this problem. The puppy basically overheats and sweats causing it to dehydrate and become hypoglycemic. My friend unfortunately lost her small yorkie this way recently and is heartbroken. Puppies need to be kept warm but not too hot I never place them on direct heat such as hot pads etc. If they sleep in a basket put the hot pad underneath the basket and I always put the basket half on the pad and half off. This ensures that the basket doesn't get too hot. Hot water bottles and hot pads are risky as they exceed 20-25 degrees celsius and anything above 25 is too hot for a puppy. Always keep direct heat away from your puppy to ensure it does not overheat this advise goes for all small pets.

Hello
On Saturday 14 October we spent the day with Linn Currie who kindly photographed some of my precious yorkies. The photos are stunning and I can't wait for our next photo shoot. It was great fun trying to get the kids to pose and we tried all kinds of things to get the perfect shots. Please check the "our Yorkies" section for some of the photos. I will be posting more as they become available. A really big thank you to Linn for her time and patience and to Robert for all the effort to get the dogs to pose for the perfect shot.
Presently I'm sitting waiting for Prada to have her litter of pups due date was yesterday so I guess the wait will soon be over. I'm really holding thums for some girls so far she has only had little boys but if they are anything like Ticky I don't mind some boys again.

Hello
The last few months have been one frustration after the next with no landlines and in the end I had to resort to using a 3G stick so I at least had internet access. The problem with that the stick uses up gigabytes at an alarming rate so I couldn't update as often as I would have liked to. Hopefully the landlines will not be stolen again in the near future. My yorkies have done me proud and one of my photos that my friend Linn Currie took was chosen for the Feb edition of the animaltalk magazine. I had no idea and it was a major surprise when I opened the magazine and recognised my 3 yorkies sitting on a chaise lounge. That's not all great was my surprise when Linn informed me that a photo of my yorkies and my Biewer boy Adam had been published in a Spanish magazine Perros. Adam made centerfold!!!! I am trying to order a copy for myself to treasure.
Lately I have received very sad mails from people who have lost their yorkies due to bad breeding. The poor dogs have bad hearts, liver and kidney failure the list goes on. So sad that money makes people use poor judgement and the best interests of the dogs fall by the way side in favour of money. There are breeders out there who do not deserve to own 1 yorkie never mind dozens and dozens of them. The sad thing is that magazines ask them for their "expert" opinions without even screening them as breeders. Owning 40-70 dogs does not make you an expert it makes you a puppy mill. A garage full of pregnant and lactating yorkies makes me sick. Please when looking for a puppy screen the breeders and go check out the enviroment that your puppy is born into. I know we all get impatient and want everything now but take your time when choosing a puppy and a breeder it will save you heartache further down the road. There are lots of good breeders out there take the time to find them.
Till next time....
