Q What age will my rabbit reach?
A At age 5 a rabbit is considered old but with good care and correct nutrition can reach the age of 10.
Q Should I bath my rabbit?
A No, firstly it will scratch you and become panicky. Secondly rabbits are clean animals that groom their coat daily. Sometimes with the angora rabbits the fur around the anus becomes soiled and matted. Clean with a wet piece of cotton wool and if necessary trim away excess hair from around the anus area.
Q Can I feed my rabbit lettuce?
A No it causes severe diahorrea and this can lead to enteritis and finally death.
Q How old must a baby rabbit be before it can leave its mother?
A A baby should be at least 5 weeks old but preferably 6 weeks and for very small babies 8 weeks.
Q Can I bottle feed my rabbit?
A NO!!! I have yet to come up with a reliable recipe that can be successfully fed to baby rabbits, (please let me know if you have one). On many occasions I have had a doe that neglects a baby and I have tried in vain to bottle-feed.
Q Does a rabbit make a good pet?
A Yes in the hands of a responsible person, rabbits can become very tame and loving. A rabbit can die of a heart-attack very easily and if chased for minutes on end by a child who shouldn’t own a pet will eventually die of fright. They will also defend themselves with their sharp claws if continually picked up and man handled.
